Out on the open road to Wangerei

Dear all

Today was the start of our 8 week road trip around the country. To keep the budget under control we were
using Wicked campers again & although I knew it was going to be very basic I also knew it would be ours and I had control over the cooking again- no more kebabs & stuff with Chips yeah!!!

It was a bit of a trip out to One hunga but its did include our taxI driver providing us with a bit of a guided commentry regarding the suburbs we were going through. Once we had filled up with fuel and food etc we hit the road heading Highway 1 up to the Northlands. The roads were pretty good so we made it up to Whagarei the main town of the area. The town basin had a lovely little harbour full of expensive looking boats and a small collection of sweet shops and cafes. It is also home to the very bizarre Claphams Clocks which is actually a musuem cum shop which specialises in everything to do with clocks!
We spent our first evening dining on pasta in our first (but unlikely to be the last!) top 10 camp site just outside of town.
Thanks for looking
Hugs

Sara
